I recently built a prusa i3 with ramps 1.4 and QU-BD extruder. i ordered super nice steppers and just got everything hooked up and for some reason, no firmware really works... every time I install one of them (marlin, sprinter, etc.) when I go to jog my steppers to navigate in repitierhost or pronterface, it just micro steps really hard. When I try to do the 10 mm jog, the motors just hum and don't spin. I've loaded the ramps test firmware and everything slides and glides like it it supposed to so I know the hardware is not an issue. I imagine some one has had the same if not similar issue and I'm soo close to firing this thing up!
