Double motor z axis (1 reply)

Hi there, I like building things, so i've been working on a crazy idea of building my own 3D printer. I decided to go for a 3D printer using 2 motors on the z axis, but i'm a bit confused about whether I should get a specific version of a ramps card that can handle the 2 motors at the same time. It seems that all ramps 1.4 can handle 2 motors on the z axis, but if you take a look at this scheme:

it looks like they've connected one of the z ports and then split it through a different device that I can't identify. Can anybody throw some light on that for me? Why haven't they used 2 engines connected to the two z ports on the ramps board? And what about the motor driver? How should I handle this aspect? Is there a specific driver in this case?

Thanks a lot for any input
