Startup G-Code mod for cleaner starts (no replies)

Hello,

I have a prusa mendel I2 and prefer to use Slic3r since it seems to produce the best consistent results with my machine and Marlin firmware. I have used Cura once or twice and find myself envious of one particular behavior of Cura. The startup.

Slic3r produces G-code that begins an actual print, (after heating is done), by homing Z and then moving out to the first part of the print on the bed. Here's the problem with this. Just before the print begins, there's usually a bit of ooze from the nozzle. This ooze has dropped down and created a small blob that rests on the platform below the nozzle. Slic3rs first moves will effectively jam the nozzle down into this small blob and then drag it out to the first part of the print.

Cura, starts a print by lifting Z a bit, extruding 3mm, and then simultaneously Dropping Z and moving out to the start point in the print. This does a couple of great things. First, that little extrude will make up for lost material due to ooze during heatup. Second, the simultaneous move will cause any ooze that's contacted the surface to drag and pull any junk away from the nozzle. This leaves the nozzle clear and extruding cleanly once the actual start point is reached and the print begins.

Very nice startup and almost always clean.

I wanted to modify Slic3rs startup, but can only find the "custom G-Code" section. The actions in here take place before the print starts, and Slic3rs default drop Z and jam the nozzle into the ooze pile still happens.

So, where is the boilerplate startup G-code located in Slic3r? I really want to change the start behavior to mimic Cura's.

Kevin.
