Hi guys, I am planning my MendelMax 1.5 build, and noticed it needs 4x 8mm rods and 2x 10mm rods.
Now, the following is happening, I am ordering custom made hardened and turned steel rods (these are just one small step below chromed rods with hardness and very precisely round).
With these rods I am having custom bronze, self-lubricated bushings made, but now the vendor is asking me what length I want.. And I have no idea whats good.
Too short and I'm afraid of the bushing wanting to bind on the rods, too long and they will become too heavy, and maybe slide less good because the surface of contact becomes bigger between bushing and rod.
I was thinking about a length of 16~20 millimeters, does anyone have experience with the length of bushings?
