A long time reader, first time poster.
I have access to some machinery and I am planning of tinkering with hotends. I want to do something similar to a J head nozzle.
I have read quite a bit on some of the different parameters, but the one thing I can't find specific info is the melt chamber.
I want to go for a small design, so i would like to get some info on how much volume or time the plastic needs in the hotend to melt.
Let's say I am using 1,75mm filament (ABS or PLA), and I have a melt chamber 2mm wide at 220ºC (bronze). How long would the plastic have to be in the chamber to heat up to lets say 210ºC. Higher printing speeds would then mean a longer melting chamber.
Not something easy to search for, so I was hoping someone could point me in the rigth direction.
